Our season got off to a good start and we did very well in our grading games, much to our disadvantage as we were placed in A grade!

This proved to be somewhat difficult and although there were a few very close games, we only achieved one win through out the season.

Having a team of 10 players also provided its challenges and to create as little disruption as possible it was decided that one player would be rostered off each week and two would sit out each quarter. This worked very well and for our last game we juggled so that everyone played at least two quarters. For a couple of the girls it was their first year of playing netball and it was great to see their skills develop and receive the support of their team mates.

Despite our numbers, tough teams and weekly losses the girls attended training every week, and came to each game determined, enthusiastic and committed to their fellow players to give as much as they could. From coaches prospective this was fantastic and we couldn’t ask for any more – other than maybe an extra win here and there!

We are yet to decide on our wind up but again we will have a full compliment of girls and parents to celebrate the end of winter netball and look forward to next year.

APRICOT

APRICOTS had a great Season which was over far to quickly. At the start of the Season we had 10 players who all played attack so they had to learn how to defend fast.  By the second half of the season, the girls worked hard in their positions and our defence had improved dramatically. We were winning games but unfortunately we missed out on the finals by 1 point. We celebrated the end of the Season at Jimmy Deans and had a great night out. Well done Apricots.

WHITE

Newman white started off the season really well, winning most of the first round in a much higher division than they had played last season. We then ran into a bit of trouble when half the team jet-setted off to Queensland to play in the Marist tournament leaving us a little short of players and struggling to win a few a rounds there. The girls then came fighting back after the holidays for the second round having alot of really close games, winning a few but loosing a few also. This lead us to finish fifth on the ladder, missing out on finals by just one win! Highlights of the season had to be the amazing last quarter comebacks the girls had many weeks giving everyone on the sidelines way too much excitement and stress for that last 15 minutes. Overall each and every player played an amazing season and provided an entertaining and skilful game each week. Thanks again for a blast of a season girls. Harriet and Maddy.
